New University Park Campus Safety Measures

September 4, 2009 3:10 PM

USC has implemented three major safety measures for fall 2009:

  • After a year of negotiations with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, a traffic light has been installed at Hoover and 28th streets - a heavily trafficked intersection near the Row. (To read a Daily Trojan story about the new signal, click here.)
  • To provide an additional safety resource for the campus community in the area north of Jefferson, USC has contracted with a private security firm to station Security Ambassadors, wearing highly visible yellow jackets, at fixed posts in North University Park.
  • The university has purchased two portable speed display signs, placed near Hoover Street, to warn speeding drivers headed east- and westbound on Jefferson Blvd. north of campus.
